Hello,
I use Mozilla Firebird 0.7+ for most of my web browsing.

I wanted to clean up and delete a few of the bookmarks that I never
use.
But when I go to Manage Bookmarks they won't delete no matter whether
it's from the edit menu, or the toolbar button, or the right mouse
button running down to "delete."

I know I can open an html editor and delete them that way but surely
this should be do-able within the Firebird program.

Any ideas (and hopefully something other than "upgrade to a later
version" since that's a long download via my dialup connection) ?

TIA

If you don't want to download and install a newer version, or reinstall
your existing version, and you still want to retain some of your existing
bookmarks, and don't want to try editing the bookmarks file manually, you
could try the following...

+ Make sure Firefox is closed.
+ Locate the "bookmarks.html" file (use Windows search if you are unsure
where your profile directory is stored).
+ Move the file to somewhere easily accessible (like the Desktop).
+ Start up Firefox (you should now have NO bookmarks listed).
+ Double-click on (or open from within Firefox) the "bookmarks.html" file
from the Desktop (which should bring up a complete list of your old
bookmarks).
+ Visit each of the links from this page, adding the ones you want to keep
to your new bookmarks list.

Hopefully this should fix the problem. If this isn't working, close
Firefox and move the old bookmarks.html file back to your profile folder
(leaving a copy on the Desktop) and reinstall Firefox.

You should upgrade to one of the latest full release versions as soon as
practical - the extra functionality and features are well worth the
download - 4.5 megs does not take *that* long to download, even on dialup.

thanks!

My favorite version too. It has everything I need and is stable
as a rock.

I managed to locate a url that I didn't need. Manage Bookmarks,
scroll till I had it sight, highlighted it and hit the delete key.
Worked correctly. Closed bookmarks and re-opened to double check
and the url was no longer there.

Sorry I can't help you further, except to identify that it is
not common to all 0.7+ installs.

Have you tried looking at them in the sidebar? I find they're much easier
to manage there than in their own manager window.
