does anyone know how to do this...spent 2 hours on phone
with sony and microsoft support as well...no one seems to
know the secret of clearing out the history...for example
when you type i an address that starts with "A"
everything that i ever typed in before with an "A" comes
up...HELP ANYONE

That happened to me and I reinstalled Internet Explorer
and it went away but it might not work for everyone, might
as well give it a try...

Assuming your browser isn't corrupt or hasn't been
hijacked by adware, this is an easy one:

With the browser open go to: Tools > Internet Options...

in the General tab there are 3 fields - you'll be
tinkering with 2 of them. In the middle field
labeled 'Temporary Internet files' click thee 'Delete
Files...' button. Dependiing on how much stuff you've got
in your history folder this operation could take a few
minutes or longer. Once this is completed go to the next
field down (History) and select the 'Clear History'
button.

Click 'OK' and restart your browser.

Try Empty Temp Folders (freeware). The third tab has settings to
eliminate cookies, history, and typed URLS - separately or all
together. You can also save those you want under the individual
categories.

A different tab removes invalid shortcuts, another unnecessary files
with the capacity to remove designations you'd rather keep. (I tend to
ignore the first tab since I use cleanmgr to clear out these areas.)
I'm using ETF with XP; the page indicates that it is suitable for the
other flavors of Windows.
