I have a User that is having a problem in MS Word, 2000. When she highlights a word and pushes the delete key, on her status bar she gets a prompt, "delete word" and she has to either click on 'yes' or 'alt y'. How do I turn this feature off?

LOL, thats funny, and must suck. Wish I knew how to
change it because I would enable it for everyone I work
with...

Follow these steps to temporarily rename the Normal.dot template to determine if it is the cause of the problem:

Close all programs
Click Start, and then click Search
Click "All files and folders"
In the "All or part of the file name" box, type Normal.dot
In the Look In box, click My Computer
Click Search Now.
For each instance of Normal.dot, right-click the file, click Rename, and then type OldNormal.dot
Close Search Results, and then start Word

If the prompt still appearstry the steps outlined in KB Article Q259413 WD2000: Things to Try Before You Call Technical Support
http://kb/article.asp?id=Q259413

Which has steps to delete the Data and Option Registry Keys from the registry.

Go to Tools > Options > General. Disable the options marked for WordPerfect
users.

You have the "WordPerfect Help" check boxes checked under "Tools",
"Options". Uncheck them both.

This is utter nonsense. All that's necessary is to disable the two
WordPerfect options on the General tab of Tools | Options.

I'm having the same problem whether it's a word, a sentence, a block of text I highlighted or whatever and deleting the check marks for WP users HAS NOT resolved my problem. They were never checked to begin with for one thing. See longer post in General Questions for some other difficulties I am having. So, now what?

Click the "Tools" menu, select "Options", click the "General" TAB and
uncheck the two WordPerfect options.
