Hello I need some help please. I got a thumbdrive free from Ibm (32mb) but it has a commerical loaded (aprox 7.xmb) on it and everytime I plug it in the commericial pops up. I've tried to delete/format it using killdisk but it doesn't work and the files are protected so I can't just delete it. when I look at it in computer management it shows up as two seprate drive ones a cdfs or cd-rom drive the other the thumbdrive.
I won't say I'm inept at computers but that's only because I like being nice to myself so If someone has some advice I'd really appreciate it.

thanks,
Gabrielle

Hi Gabs

You could try formatting the drive that should wipe any thing on the drive including the protected part...

Plug in the drive Hit start then my computer you should then see the drive it will be e: or f: or whatever if you then rightclick on the drive you should get a menu and you will see a tab with Format on it, click this andyou will see a menu showing your drive hit start and this should wipe everything on the disk....hope that helps ya out....take care now...:D

CrazyLegs,
I tried to format it. in admin tools and in dos but it won't ( dos says it's raw??). I turned off the autorun on it so it doesn't pop up anymore but I'd like to get rid of it all together. Thanks for you help even if I can't get rid of it atleast now it doesn't run everytime I use it :)

thanks,
Gabrielle

plug your memory stick in and try the following

go to start> settings> control panel> admin tools> computer management and click disk management in the list on the left, select the disk (make sure you get the right one) right click on it and click delete partition, then format it with a new partition

tried that Me and didnt' work. I tried a bunch of stuff and now I 've messed with the thing so much (includeing opening it and "shorting" circuits) it doesn't even work now. AW FUDGE oh well thanks for your advice. :)
