Deleteing Total Presentation

Tried deleting the PPT file but there is no delete button under the file tab and the keyboard key won't work either.

*Close* the file, noting its name.
Find it in Windows Explorer by searching for (whatever your file name
is).ppt
Click on it once to select it (don't open it), press Delete on your
keyboard.

If you created a template (*.pot) then these are usually somewhere in a
folder called Templates. If you've stored it somewhere else and can't
remember where, or what it is called, then use Search(or Find) Files or
Folders and search for
*.pot
That will get all the powerpoint templates. See if one looks like one you
saved - you may have to open a few to remind yourself.

If you want to delete all the sides in a presentation but not the
presentation itself, then open the presentation. Go to View, Slide Sorter.
Press Ctrl and A on your keyboard which selects everything in the window.

Press Delete on your keyboard.

If you have saved a Presentation but don't want it to appear in the Recently
used files list in PowerPoint (because you gave it some dreadfully
embarrassing name and don't want your Mum to see it!) then there are a
number of freeware programs that will do that depending on which version of
Office and of Windows you have but if you don't want to install one go to
Tools, Options and set the Recently Used Files list to a lowish number then
you could save several other dummy presentations with nice sober names so
that your file will get knocked off the list and then delete your dummy
presentations.

Are you referring to not being able to delete the PPT file that is listed in
the Task Pain (on bottom/right side of screen)? If that is the case, it
will continue to show even after you delete the actual PPT file. You can
modify how many PPT files display in Task Pain, by going to
Tools>Options>General and then either removing the check mark for "recently
used file list" or increasing or decreasing the number of files that will
display. For instance, you could change it to 2 and then open 2 of your
current PPT files and then the "old" file that you already deleted will no
longer be listed. By the way, when you make change to Tools setting, you
will need to exit PowerPoint and then restart it for the changes to take
effect.

Do you mean it's still showing up on the Most Recently Used list (at the
bottom of the Files menu)?

Please give us more details - it only takes longer if you make us beat it
out of you and we're running low on bamboo slivers. ;-)
