I had a problem with a windows 2000 local user. I could
not get there Id to work so, I deleted it and recreated it
with the same name and password.

The problem is that in doing this they have lost
everything under there user id documents, emails etc...

Is there any way of getting them back????

Please HELP they have just thrown my boss off site because
of this.....

He now wants to talk to me about this matter....

If you immediately stopped all activity on the drive, then you might have a
chance with Emergency Undelete from http://www.undelete.com/coverpage.asp

When you say that you deleted this local user, what, exactly, did you do?
Have you checked Documents and Settings to make sure that the original
profile is not there, visible to an administrator? New profiles for existing
users can take the form of a dotted name, thus .\johnsmith and
..\johnsmith.000, or .\johnsmith.computername or .\johnsmith.domainname,
depending.

The only back ups you ever miss are the ones you didn't make in the first
place. I assume this site does not perform desktop backups, eh? If they do,
problem solved. If they don't, it is not entirely your fault, is it? What
are they doing storing email locally, if they don't back it up? Of course,
you have to take responsibility for what you did, but there is a limit to
how much they can blame you.
