deleted unwanted file

I know many of us internet surfer encounter this problem.while surfing the net; a pop up screen; some program automatically attach it self to your compture without you knowing it, until you boot up and instantly become a part of your icon..has htis ever happen to anyone? and i want to dispose of this program that been a thorn in my side. I have try many of time but fail..the mehtod i use as follow

1.shift key and delet
2. drag file to recycling bi
3. delete optio

all suggestion and advice are welcome
 
Make sure it is not in the startup menu. Run / type ; msconfig /
startup tab.
uncheck it. It will not uninstall if it is being used. Look in Add and
Remove Programs , Program files for a uninstall option. If no success , use
search and delete it from it's listed location. Jym

To help prevent this in the future,go to internet
options>security>custom level.Set your "download active x
controls and plugins" to prompt instead of enable.Their
are several of them ie.safe, unsafe,signed and unsigned.
also install this free program,spywareblaster
