deleted subweb, but permissions are still there . . . but really not

I deleted a subweb via FP 2002 (administer a web server) and when I viewed
"manage virtual accounts", the permissions associated with the subweb were
still there.

When I try to delete them, I receive an error that there is no user with the
name of the user I am trying to delete.

This is a dedicated server, and I have root access vis teminal services.

Looking at IIS, I cannot see where I can do this on the server. However I
did note a permissions wizard in IIS, but I am concerned I will mess up all
the other permissions, so I did not run it.

Any ideas?

I would open the server's administration page and run the
Server Health checks.
