deleted pictures from folder

i downloaded a new set of photos onto myphotos and wanted to copy and paste
them into a already created picture folder. once i hit paste onto the folder,
the pictures that were already in the folder erased. is there anyway to get
them back?

Did you say yes to a dialog that asked:
"Would you like to replace the existing
file xxx with this one xxx?"

If the file names of the new pictures
were the same as the previous ones...
they have been overwritten / replaced.
Overwritten files are not recoverable.

If you are downloading from your camera...
check your documentation for a way to
have the files numbered consecutively
instead of beginning at #0001 every
session.
