Files or pages that I have deleted from the master copy on my PC using FP2002
can still be found on the host server when I use the search facility on the
site.
There is no problem publishing except for these unwanted files.
The (Publish) Changed pages box is ticked.
The (Changes) Determine changes by comparing source & destination box is
ticked.

Do a *full* publish, without the changed pages box ticked, to get your web
in synch.

Then, do another publish with changed pages box ticked, and see if that
corrects it.

Folders will have to be deleted by opening the remote web via FP and
deleting them there.

Thanks Tom, I never considered opening the remote web and editing. I will
give it a try.
