One of my users deleted the My Documents folder from her
desktop. I am not sure how to get it back. We have
moved everyone's My Documents folder to their network
location ( \\server01\users\%username% ). I am able to
create a shortcut from that networked location and place
it on the desktop and am able make the default save
location in all of the office apps. I just can not
figure out how to get that 'original' back on her
desktop. She naturally claims that she does not know
what happened and there is nothing in the Recycle Bin.

Thank you,

Neville

I'm afraid I don't recollect the procedure for Windows 2000 (it may well
be the same but something in the back of my mind is telling me it's not)
but for Windows XP, select -

Control Panel -> Display -> Desktop (tab) -> Customize Desktop (button)

.... and check My Documents at the top left of the resulting window.

It depends a little on what your trying to achieve...

If you want to recover the deleted items then you'll have
to restore from a backup of your server. The Recycle Bin
is a local function only, it doesn't get used on network
connected files (Yes, pretty dumb I agree, other Network
OSs had that function twenty years ago - this is a pet
hate of mine)

If want to recreate a folder with the properties of "My
Documents" then this article may help...
