It shows 36 items and will not clear with the empty deleted items key. Also
even though they appear you can not delete it with the delete key with out a
message can not find. How do you correct this??????????

To get the feel of what this problem is all about, and possible workarounds,

Deleted Items is probably corrupt.
Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and see where OE is
storing its data files.
Close OE.
Go to the store folder with Windows Explorer and delete Deleted Items.dbx.
With Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3 it will be a hidden file.
OE will build a new one when you reopen it.

If Deleted Items has messages you want to keep, instead of deleting it move
(not copy) it to an empty Windows folder. Then use DBXtract on the old
Deleted Items.dbx.
DBXtract ($5): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/
You can drag the recovered messages from the Windows folder back into an OE
folder in the Folder List in an open OE.

You can try various ways such as CTRL-A and delete or Shift-Delete or do an
Edit | Find on the folder contents so you get all the results and then try
deleting from the Search window.

If none of that works you can also try my WMUtil program
(www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and compact and repair the database and see if that
helps.

Otherwise, just ignore it.

Well all here's what worked for me. Right click on the "deleted items" then
click on "delete all " then click "yes" It did what at a time until I got
down to 38 deleted items left then they all dissappeared. Hopefully ya
understand this. Good Luck VISTA SUCKS

How to make it less likely you will get a useful answer:

1. Post in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, so you will be treated as shouting.

2. Put all of your message in the Subject: line, instead of putting it in
the
large open space beneath the subject line.

For your problem, see if this helps:

Although it's labelled as for messages stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you aren't sure whether you have a 32-bit version of
Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.
Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, tend to cause this and other problems in Windows
Mail, although seldom immediately, so if you have such a program,
remember where to find the hotfix, and hope it will install again if you
need it again. A recent version of the Trend antivirus program also
causes assorted problems in Windows Mail.

I have tried CTRL-A and delete. It worked acually too well. I wanted to
delete only one message as a trial. To my surpise it highlithed all my
"Deleted messages",which were over 30 items, and when I clicked the "delete"
key they all disappeared. Wow!
No harm done though. Thank you for your advice.

CTRL-A is the same as Edit | Select All , which is why all of them were highlighted.
