Deleted Items folder: fills up with old appointments

I don't know if this is a corruption or a virus: I have Outlook 2003, and
for the past few months have been noticing that my Deleted Items folder gets
filled with copies of a few past appointments from 2004. They are repeats of
the same 3 appointments. This happens (intermittently) when I click
"Send/Receive".
I've already done a clean install on this machine, re-installed Office,
re-imported my outlook.pst from backup, and voila, it's still happening.
(maybe it was in the .pst file?)
Any suggestions as to what's going on?

Try running the Inbox Repair Tool against your .PST file to see if it finds
any errors. Search your drive for a file called scanpst.exe and run it.
Allow the program to make a backup of your file before it makes any changes.

Hi Jocelyn,
We ran the Inbox Repair Tool as well as the scanpst.exe. It worked! Now
I don't have to go out and buy a mac (yet). Thanks so much for saving us a
ton of cash!!

Jocelyn,
Actually, now I see that solution didn't work. What finally worked was
uninstalling the Microsoft ActiveSync7 software that ran my HP iPAQ Pocket
PC. NOW the delete folder is clean. Sometimes PDA software can be
insidious. This hounded me for months.
Thanks again for the suggestion, though. Maybe it's helping someone.

The most recent version of ActiveSync is V4.1. There is no V7.
