I have a member of staff who deletes all Internet History before going home
every evening. I have several times set History to 110 days, but everytime
I check, after the employee has gone home, it has been reset to 0 days, and
all history for that day deleted. How can I stop the settings being change,
history deleted, or recording elsewhere (covertly) internet usage?

Hi thanks for your reply.

I've followed the link, read the info, but don't understand how or what to
do. I've used Regedit and searched for History, but can't find the settings
you mention, so can't change them.

Am I doing something wrong. I would like to practice on my laptop at home,
running XP Home.

If you have XP Professional, use Group Policy.

Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | Click OK |
Navigate to >>
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet
Explorer\
Disable changing history settings

If you do not have XP Pro, Automated edit here for any version of XP...

Read the instructions at the top
101. Prevent IE History Being Removed - Undo
Click on Prevent IE History Being Removed
iehistory.reg is the file

If you want to remove the policy later click on Undo
iehistoryundo.reg is the file.

Thanks for the link. Works fine.

I can't find the option to reverse the setting though.

Set to Not Configured or Disabled.

If you have XP Professional, use Group Policy.

Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | Click OK |
Navigate to >>
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet
Explorer\
Disable changing history settings

Not Configured = Specifies that no change is made to the registry for this
setting.

Enabled = Specifies that the registry indicate that the policy applies to
users or computers that are subject to this Group Policy object.

Disabled = Specifies that the registry indicate that the policy does not
