Hi,
I'm using IE 6.0.2800.1106CO.

I note that if I delete a History item, it does not go to the recycling bin.
The item appears to be gone forever! Is there any way to restore deleted
history items?

I'm asking because I'd like to see where people who use my computer are
surfing just in case they cover their tracks by deleting them from History.
If possible, I'd like to accomplish this without buying additional software.

Thank you.

Once History is deleted, it's gone. It was not designed to track
people's activities. There is third party software for that purpose.

Sorry, I cannot. Fortunately, I don't have a need for that kind of
information, so I've never looked for a program like that.

Hello!
Even after history deletion you have a chance view visited URLs by
exploring cookies and cache. Also IE not always deletes all history
tracks from index.dat files. Try this software
http://www.585Soft.com/IEhistoryX.asp it's not a free, but you can try
it for 30 days without any limitations.

Cookies and TIF are a poor way to prove where someone has been on the
internet, since they can include third party websites that the user did
not click on and has never visited.

This is not a 100% way to detect visited sites but this is a way to try
to restore user activity tracks.

You're not going to be able to do it without using third-party software,
and it mostly likel isn't going to be free if it exists. You'd need
somthing that could hook into the history maintenance function and make
copies of the information elsewhere.
