Deleted Files when cleaning hard drive

I recently installed a small hard drive to store all of my music on. Everything was fine till i decided to run a clean up on the drive. After teh computer rebooted i noticed alot of my music files were gone. What did I do and can i get these files back. Please let me know what i can do.

Don't do anything else until you have tried "disc recovery software". All of
your files are still there, they are just no longer in the index. Once they get
overwritten, however they will be lost.
