Deleted Files folder won't display emails

To keep the size of my Outlook.pst file reasonable, I have
chosen to manually delete all files in my SENT and DELETED
FILES older than 60 days. I have never activated any
ARCHIVE commands and that may be my problem. But this
week when I attemped to open my DELETED FILES folder
containing 137 emails, I get the message "there are no
items to show" and the files are not listed nor viewable.

All other folders are working just fine as are all other
functions of Outlook 2000. My OS is WIN98SE. I have
plenty excess Gigs of hard drive along with 224 MB of RAM.

Any suggestions to re-activate my DELETED FILES folder
would be appreciated.

Since you know there are "137" emails there, it sounds like
your view is not right.

Try this:

Open Outlook
Select your DELETED folder
Select VIEW from the menu
Select CURRENT VIEW
Select MESSAGES
Click the RESET button if it is not grayed out
Apply the view.

Did this help?

Try running Detect and Repair from the Help menu.

Also, why do people insist on keeping trash around for even 1 day? If you
deleted the item, you did not want it, right? So, will you want it more in
60 days? Didn't think so. It is like keeping your lunch in your trash can
because you might want it.

I can do what you suggested in any folder other than my
DELETED folder. There I do not have the CURRENT VIEW
option.

Thanks anyway.

Matt

Already did the DETECT AND REPAIR without any benefit.
FYI I often find that a message deleted a week or two ago
becomes temporarily important and can be retrieved since I
keep the last 60 days of deleted files on hand.

But thanks for your comments

.

I'm having the same problem, only with a sent items folder. Did anyone
ever find a fix?

Thanks,

Chuck
