during the course of repairing my system after the trojan.gema virus, I somehow deleted the file windows\system32\hvid.exe from the registry. Can someone tell me how to restore this file? I have an E-machine with preinstalled programs. Can't use the restore to an earlier date because that had to be turned off to fix the problem and the last date has been reset.

Thank you for any and all assistance
Bill

Seeing as how hvid.exe is not part of a normal install of Windows XP, I can
conclude that it is something you installed or it was preloaded with the
computer OR it was, in fact, the virus file itself.
