giving up her right to remain silent, "kate"
When I delete an email a line goes through it but it does not move
into my deleted items folder. I know that I can delete it by purging
but then it is deleted permanently and what I want is for it to go
into the deleted items folder. I cannot drag it to that folder
either.
I have looked all over and in the help file for a way to change this
set up but can't find anything. Is there a way to do what I want?
I have got the exact same problem and googleing around i see a
bunch of complaints but no solution. Normally, when I see something
like that, I suspect that the answer is so simple that no-one bothered
to post the answer and the originator probably wants to delete the
original question. But then, knowing how these here microsoft MVP'ers
run up their certification scores, I am certain they would immediately
jump on an easy question to answer it, so obviously, this is a
gates-got-you.
Outlook Express works perfectly (pop3): I hit delete or have a
"delete rule" execute, the message goes immediately into that deleted
folder.
Outlook using imap4 simply puts a line thru the spam i want to get
rid of which truely makes JHD a joke. Rules that move message leave
that stupid message with a line thru it and I get a 2nd copy where it
got moved to. Eventually I have 2x as many items to purge when I
really want to get around to removing old stuff.
It gets even worse...When getting mail thru a secure server (SSL)
using a filter such as spampal with stunnel (SSL plugin), spampal
read the mail, tags the header to indicate spam, then uploads it back
to the imap inbox. I then have two entries and this is before any
rules are involked. One for the spam that came in before it was
identified as spam "You Look Great!", and the other message, exact
same subject, with the phrase "**SPAM CHI-KOR DNSBL** You Look Great!"
Anyway, I went to the web server that actually handles the imap4 (not
outlook on my computer) and logged in and looked at that box "[X]
Move deleted mail to [Trash] folder" and verify that the [X] was in
the box. It was, so I then emailed the headshead at our information
technology center and asked them to fix the problem. This was after I
checked with our network manager who said everybody else had the same
problem and to try emailing the headshead.
I hope you have better luck than me. If I find out any more I will
post it. The only stupid question is the one not asked.
