A friend accidentally deleted his contacts file. He was
transferring his Outlook98 folders to a new computer and
failed to see if it was successful before deleting the
files on the old computer, and of course he deleted the
deleted files folder. The computer is not on the
Microsoft Exchange Server or any other server so admin
recovery is not an option. This was his personal machine.
Is there anyway to recover the file short of a hex bit
anylizer? By the way, the old computer is currently in
use by a third party so the most recently used file will
be no help. Thanks.

Search for all files with a .PST extension -- the contacts would be in one
of those. If the computer is running Windows 2000 or XP, you'll need to
make sure you're searching within hidden and system folders to make sure you
find all existing .PST files.
