Is it okay to delete Win XP update and security patches after they have
been installed and I am satisfied with the performace of the OS. Ray Holt

If you are sure that you will not need to uninstall a Windows
update you can safely delete any folders within C:\Windows that
are named similar to this:

$NtUninstallKBXXXXXX$

You can also delete the $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder if you
are satisfied with Service Pack 2.

Do not delete the $hf_mig$ folder. Windows uses this whenever a
new update is installed.

FYI, posting the same message 15 minutes apart is often counter
productive. We heard you the first time.

Good luck

I have the file $MSI31Uninstal_KBxxxxxx$ in the Windows directory. Can
this also be deleted?

That folder contains the uninstall files for an updated version
of the Windows Installer, msiexec.exe. As long as you haven't
had any problems installing programs recently then you can
safely delete that folder.

Good luck
