The top-level folders in XP are more numerous than those in
98, and I don't want some that I think are unnecessary
cluttering up my view in Windows Explorer.
Examples: Under "My Computer", there is "Shared Documents",
"Guest's Document's" and a duplicate folder of "[UserName]
Documents" (with the exact same content as "My Documents"
under my "[UserName]" folder in "Documents and Settings" --
why the heck is this here, anyway?!!). None of these do I
need or want.
Under C\Documents and Settings, there is "All Users",
"Guest", "Administrator", "Default User", and "Owner", in
addition to my "[UserName]" folder which of course I want
to keep. Now maybe one or two of these are necessary for
some technical reason, but I can't believe that it's really
necessary to have all five of them in addition to my
"[UserName]" folder.
I have XP Home, am the only user of the PC, and have
Administrator permissions by default.
Are there some Registry keys that can be changed or deleted
to remove these top-level folders from the view in Explorer
without compromising the system? Or any other method?
Thanks.
