I have a compaq preserio 912 and my server is msn with windows xp
home.
On my home page i can click on the white search line "not the search
button" and i get a drop down list of { previous contacts }. I would
like very much to delete some or all of these that i don't wish to
contact again. If you can tell me how and if this can be done ,i would
really appreciate the answer. I am pretty new on the ( Pc )so step by
step explination would be nice also. Thanks very much in advance.  JIM

Go to Tools, Options, then "Clear History." You might want to add any
sites you want to keep to your "Favorites" list first.

Just wanted to thank you for your reply to my post Doug but it didn't
do the job. I guess i'll just have to live with it for the time being .
One other thing i'd like to ask: Do you know of a way to block
incomeing Email from certain parties that a person doesn't desire to
hear from ? Thanks again JIM

My bad, I think. I assumed that you were talking about your browser, but
apparently it was your e-mail program? Since I don't use the MSN browser
and don't know what they are using for an e-mail program, I can't give
any kind of diffinitive answer. (I also don't use any of the Microsoft
e-mail programs, but use Mozilla.)

As far as blocking incoming e-mail, whatever program you are using
probably has some means of filtering (or some other term) incoming
messages to put them in the folder of your choice. Just construct a
filter to route anything from the unwanted parties to the "trash"
folder. If you see new messages showing up in the trash folder
(Mozilla/Netscape mail shows folders with new mail as boldface with the
number of messages) after downloading new messages you can scan through
any in the trash folder to make sure nothing was dumped there that
should have been kept. Set the program to empty the trash on exit, and
they're gone. (Unfortunately, a problem with spam filters is that
anything that appears to the filter algorithms to fit the defined spam
profile gets blocked ... all too often it's not really spam at all ...
like a newsletter from your financial advisor or bank if you have some
filter terms designed to block spam loan-offer e-mails. I prefer making
my own decision whether to dump a message or not.)
