Is there anything on "E" drive?
personal files, pictures, etc

Where is XP Home installed?
Can you post boot.ini?

Do you have multi-boot menu?

is XP home listed?

Do this:
- Click Start / Run
- Type notepad c:\boot.ini {OK}
- Paste the contents of this file into your reply.

I now realise why I couldn't make sense of most of your replies to my
recent thread! Do you ever *read* a post thoroughly before rattling
off a reply? The OP, bing, clearly said:
"I have no idea which partition windows xp home edition is installed,"
yet you ask "Where is XP Home installed?".

OK, things are becoming clearer. You probably have the following
Windows folders:
- Windows 2000: C:\WinNT
- Windows XP Professional: D:\Windows
- Windows XP Home: E:\Windows

Now do this:
1. Launch Win2000.
2. Rename e:\Windows to e:\Windows.home.
3. Launch Windows XP Professional.
4. Check if everything works the way it should.
5. Wait a few days.
6. If all is well, delete e:\Windows.home
7. Empty the Recycle Bin.
8. Click Start / Run
9. Type this: notepad c:\boot.ini
10. Remove the line that refers to Windows XP Home

Not sure if this will help you, but I interpret that boot.ini as
follows:

- Your next boot will by default be to Disk 0, Partition 2, XP Pro
- Alternatives offered will be Disk 0, Partition 4, XP Home
and
Disk 0 Partition 1 (typically, but not necesarily, C), Win 2000

If you're not comfortable with command line syntax then
I recommend you use "My Computer" or "Explorer".
Right-clicking the folder in question will give you a "rename"
option.

Try this:
- Boot into WinXP Professional
- Locate the folder X:\Windows where X: is the letter of
each and every drive you have on your PC.
- Attempt to rename the folder to Windows.home. If it's
the Windows XP Home folder then you can do it. If it's
the Windows XP Professional folder then Windows won't
let you.

If you cannot find a folder to rename then you must have
deleted the Windows XP Home folder before.

In future I recommend that you keep good records of you
installations. Having three instances of Windows on the one
machine gets very confusing unless you remember exactly
what you placed where.

How many drives do you see? If partition(1) is C: and partition(2) is
D:, then partition(4) is probably F:.
