I am BRAND new to this newsgroup, but already have spent about an hour
reading old posts... time does fly, doesn't it?!

How do I delete the old posts? Apparently it isn't as easy as deleting old
emails...

Thank you!

They will go away accordingly as time passes in accordance with the settings
in your newsreader.

In Outlook Express you can go to the Edit menu and choose Catch_Up or Mark
All Read for a newsgroup and then check New Messages Only on the
Syncronization of Newsgroups page (click on msnews.microsoft.com in the
Folders pane).

To delete newsgroup messages in OE, highlight the message headers,
hit Shift + Delete and answer YES.

Then...
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Maintenance tab, click Clean Up Now.
3. To delete message bodies only for the selected item, click Remove
Messages.

Then Compact the Folders...

1. To make sure you aren't receiving any mail, so your Inbox or any other
folders aren't active, Work Offline.
2. File | Work Offline (Or hit Alt + F + W).
3. To make sure no folders are open, highlight Outlook Express in the
Folders pane .
4. File | Folder | Compact All Folders (Or hit Alt + F + F + F) .
5. Don't do anything until your hard drive has quit thrashing.
6. Don't forget File | UNCheck: Work Offline (Or hit Alt + F + W).
