How can I delete an existing connection? It is no longer
needed and interfers with my attempt to setup DSL

You can't delete LAN connections, and they shouldn't interfere with your
DSL. What problems are you having?

Actually, I just deleted a mystery LAN connection on XP
Pro last night that was annoying me. In my case, the
connection was caused by a dialup modem that had the home-
network-through-the-phonelines functionality. Since I use
DSL, I didn't need that connection. I went into the Device
Manager and uninstalled the network adapter that the LAN
Connection was using. Then I could delete the LAN
connection with no problems. I don't know if this will
help you out, since my issue was physically having two
adapters, but that's the process that let me delete one of
the LAN connections.

Hope it helps,

B

Maybe I should have been more specific. There will be one LAN connection
for every network adapter, yes you can remove the adapter and the LAN
connection will go away. I guess I can see how having two LAN cards could
cause a problem connecting with PPPoE.

I'm betting that the second LAN connection will come back since XP will
reinstall the other NIC if it is still present. Have you tried just
disabling it?
