Cannot delete this email.

Use this... follow all instructions to clear outbox

Probable cause of error - Incompatible antivirus software
such as Norton or McAfee

Solution - Uninstall entirely and use a (free) compatible product such as
Avast
with email scanning component omitted

Does that clear the outbox, prevent the problem occurring or both?

We have to wait for someone to "suck it and see" Julian?

I have read one post that indicated that the Hotfix worked, -- Recurring "no
idea".

That is offering from M$ for the problem.

I have never had a message stuck anywhere other than the odd one that
posters tell me where to shove it :-)

I have had the same problem with windows mail on vista premium.

I also have mcafee security centre 7.0

This is what i did.

disabled email scanning, found the email store mine was at

C:\Users\YOUR COMPUTER NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
Mail\WindowsMail.MSMessageStore

deleted the file: WindowsMail.MSMessageStore

I had another in a backup folder in the same folder as the email file, i
deleted this too. then restarted windows mail,it created a new local folder
and recovered my emails i had deleted, and put these in local folder (1), i
transfered my emails to my new empty folders in windows mail and deleted
local folder (1)

hey presto its now working.

The 'fix' you used is likely to result in repeated generation of new
'Recovered' mail folders each time you start Windows Mail.

Also, continued use of McAfee will likely result in new WM corruption.

Have no re-occurence of recovered files in Windows Mail (and I open it every
day) only 2 or 3 files appeared on the desktop, other than that its working
ok.

Had no problems with Mcafee.

You're one of the lucky ones.
I was plagued by daily generation of new 'recovered' folders
after deleting the MSMessagestore files.

McAfee is like a time bomb. It may work fine for several months,
but eventually it will go bang.
