delete initial data, keep result

Hello.

I would like to do the following thing, but dont know exactly how.
Let's say I have a big program that calculates something. In the end it
gives a sheet of results all of which have references to and depend on
the initial numbers i put in another list. So - if i delete the initial
numbers, i lose the result. How can I either export the results to
another excel file, either copy it within the same file, so that I can
change the initial numbers in my program and get another result WITHOUT
LOSING the first one?

I think the simplest thing would be to select that summary range, copy it and go
to your "save" worksheet and edit|Paste special|Values.
 
You can paste the results as values:

Copy the column of results
Select the starting cell where you'd like the results pasted
Choose Edit>Paste Special
Select Values, click OK
 
Right click on the tab of the sheet you want to keep, select 'Move or Copy, then
either choose to save it in the current workbook or a new workbook. Then select
the entire sheet and copy and then paste special as values.

I do realize the Q was stupid, but I just have never used the "paste
special" features before :)
 
Questions are almost never stupid in themselves - 'Not' asking them can be
though :-)

A different solution than the once mentioned up to now would be:
Create a new worksheet that will be your 'Report' file. Retrieve the data
from your original file by linking to it. When somebody opens the file
without having access to the original data it will show the last known
numbers. This way you will only need to open the file yourself and save it
to have the report filled with actual figures, in stead of copying and
pasting.

This is just another way of obtaining the result you were looking for,
without
preferring one of the solutions. It's just depending on the exact situation
which
way should be preferred.
