Hi,

I wasn't paying close attention and accidentally copied my computer's
harddrive to my computer's harddrive instead of the external drive I
intended. Is there a way to delete the copy? Thanks for any help.

lol, take it as a lesson in computer use. You're not the first & won't
be the last.

Time to revert to your backups & do a restore to just before you did
that. If, with any luck, it all went into a new folder and subfolders,
then just delete them. But it's be wise to back up your data first,
just in case. If you gave it a folder name and just the wrong drive
letter, that's where it is. Just delete it. It's going to be a slow
process.
BTW, if the backup included system folders, XP delete may complain
about them and refuse to delete them. Since you gave no further useful
information, all I can say is come back and explain what you have more
clearly.

Thanks, Twayne. Got it done, though it did complain as it couldn't put the
sizeable file in the recycle bin, etc. You're right about it being another
lesson in computer use - and the frustrations that express themselves in
equal parts of LOL and cursing. Phew! I think I'm going to pay more attention
to setting restore points more often.

If you are absolutely (at least a billion percent) sure that you want to
delete a file, hold SHIFT when you choose Delete and it will be permanently
deleted without going to the Recycle Bin. Be sure to read the "Are you
sure...?" message before clicking YES! (No 2nd chances. :)

Caution: You should not follow this advice without getting a 2nd opinion.
