delete email

How do you delete unwanted email without having to open the mail. Once you
click on the email it automatically opens. With my old outlook express I
had to double click to open; or just click once and then delete it if I
wanted to and it would not open.,

You have the preview pane enabled, go to View menu>layout>and disable
it>apply>OK.
You can add a Preview button to the toolbar via View menu>layout>customise
toolbar>add from the left pane to the right>toggle prior to accessing your
messages etc
Or
Alt,V,L,P,E,Enter.
 
I believe a right click on the e-mail will offer you several choices
including delete.

If the Preview Pane is enabled that will still open it. See Steve (
mac)'s response.
 
Jessie, try just selecting the email that you don't want, then hit the red X
on the menu bar. That ought to delete it without your having to open it.

"Selecting" an email will open it in the preview pane.
The only solution is to turn off the preview pane.
