Yes I have problems with windows OneCare it keep coming up not working right
or next time it might say my virus is not working. My computer is a Dell XP
sp2 windows 2000. I have tried to go to control panal and programs remove but
the icon stays in my system try. Can't get rid of all the program. I really
like the idea of OneCare but it worries me since I am new to computers.

I got it off my (WXP-Home/Sp2) PC as well. It refused to let me install a
CD burner. A window came up saying something wasn't turned on with no
information how to turn it on..... I deleted it, installed my CD burner
program and made all my backups.

What are you using for virus protection and a firewall

Zone Alarm and AVG which never stopped me from installing any software.
Once Defender was removed I had no problem installing it.

Tom, I removed defender via the add/remove programs but still it comes back.
The only thing I haven't tried is deleting it in safe mode. Do you have any
suggestions?

Hello Bendigedig,

if it is gone in add/remove programs then try to delete the folder in
Program files, if some dont want to remove then look for the name that
is disturb you and stop the program from running with Windows tasks
(Ctrl/Alt/Del) services and try to delete it again.
Download CCleaner to clean your registry,
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp
If all the stuff is gone, do not reboot but run the regcleaner from
CCleaner first.

Thank you Tom, I had done everything that you had suggested apart from using
the program you speak of. That got rid of it for me and a few other bits of
rubbish too. I already use Registry Mechanic but had never heard of
CCleaner. Thank you again, Bendigedig
