"Delayed Write Failed"

I am running XP Pro on a 3 month old machine and suddenly the message
"Delayed Write Failed" keeps appearing in the task bar. I haven't changed
anything and my machine seems fine, have had a couple of problems installing
programmes but don't know if it's connected.

Does anyone know what I can do ? Information on the web seems vague to say
the least.

At the very least do chkdsk /r and review the output.

ntfs or fat32?
Via, intel or ? motherboard?
