After update to SP2 the printing to any network printer takes very long time
to start. Most printer are quite new HP printer with JetDirect and enabled
internet printing.
Furthermore adding new printer is now imposible. Does anybody has the same
experience?

Small HOWTO rerun printer problem
I've made test in Excel. I was filling some text 'aaaa' in A1. Then I tried
bold it - now it takes very long time for first time when the default
printer was network printer. To minimize influence of other systems I was
using only HP LJ2200 JetDirect for this test. All other printer was deleted
and driver removed from system.

When I was repeting test with net unplugged everything was OK.

All test were rerunned on several different PC with Windows XP SP2 with the
same result. Printing is very delayed.

What is worst when I am trying to add HP JetDiret printer with enabled
internet printing (such system was functional several years without any
problem) I cannot even add it to Windows XP SP2? What now? We cannot print
from PC where I was deleting HP JetDirect Printer?

I apreciate any suggestion

Hi Sosan

Did you really delete all drivers?
Go to the Printers and Faxes explorer, then File->Server Properties.
There on the Drivers tab remove all the left over drivers except for the
possible Microsoft Office Document Image Writer Driver (Office 2003) or
Adobe PDF Converter (Acrobat)

Also with XP SP2 the firewall is on by default. Turn it off to check if that
might cause the problem. You could also go to Control Panel->Windows
Firewall and on the Exceptions tab check File and Printer Sharing to allow
requests to pass the firewall.

Good luck,
Peter
