Delay when accessing explorer

All of a sudden when I access Explorer I get a long delay between making my choice and having Explorer disply. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
 
You are talking about Windows explorer and not Internet Explorer?

When was the last time you Defragged your disks?

Do you use many long, I mean long file names?

Font loading can cause some delays.

What is loading at start up?
Run MSCONFIG from the start/run applet and look under StartUp tab.
