LOL, and every product before it. How about "I can type, I don't need no
stupid mouse and pictures" for the DOS to Windows transition? Not to mention
the seemingly outrageous hardware requirements. What was it, 16MHz
processor? 32MB RAM? Couple of megabytes of hard disk space (if that)?
Yikes, what power hungry piece of bloatware! It'll never fly!

Remember in Windows 3.0 the uinversal lament about "I ain't paying no $69.00
to play solitaire on my computer"? As if that's what it was all about.

Some people just don't get it, and have zero vision when it comes to tech.
Here, you can usually identify them by excessive use of the words "I
want..." and "me" in their posts. They live in a very tiny universe.

To all the doom-mongers.....

Try visiting Google Groups and type in 'XP sucks'.You'll get screens
full of postings from 2001/02.

'Drivers don't work'
'Unstable'
'Slow'
'ridiculous hardware requirements'
'I'm going back to 98'
'Microsoft are finished'
'I'm going over to Linux'

etc,etc.

Sound familiar?

Some of the people here would complain if they were given $100,000.

Why aren't the bills new and crisp?

I lost $500.00 - will you replace it for free?

I put a $20.00 bill in a change machine and the machine spit the bill back
out - this money sucks.

The roll of hundreds takes up too much room in my pocket - I'm switching to
Rubles!

Hehe..good point.

I just found a post from 1991 about how much 'Windows 3.0 sucks' and
they're sticking to their Commodore Amiga!

More like switching to Euros instead of the wimpy dollar. The Euro has a
five hundred Euro bill so, if you switch, they *will* fit in your pocket.

I am buying a new video card direct from the manufacturer, they have a $50
trade in on any old card. So I selected a ATI VGA 64 ISA to use as a trade
in and googled the p/n for a description. Was I surprised to find out these
are still for sale, mostly reconditioned, for $250 to $350. So.....keeping
some of the "old" stuff may be rewarding!

Um, when XP was released, it did suck. It wasn't until SP2 that it
stopping sucking. Same was true for 95 and 98 and is true for Vista.

And to those saying "I've seen this all before and I'm waiting for
SP1/SP2".. fair enough.

My point was aimed at those that hadn't done their research...A lack of
drivers, incompatible programs, extra hardware requirements etc was just
the same (if not worse) when XP was released. At the time, many people
were calling XP a major failure and that Microsoft had completely lost
the plot.

No doubt in a few years time we'll have to go through exactly the same
thing with the 'Vienna Sucks' posts (or whatever it's called by then).

Maybe that was so on your computer. On mine XP worked fine before SP2 and
Vista works flawlessly on my computer right now.

Oh, so they released SP1 and 2 just for the fun of it, eh?

Who would be stupid enough to carry that much cash on them in the
first place?

I don't think I said that or that there was no need for updates. I simply
said XP worked fine on my machine before SP2.

I ran Windows XP from the day it was available in the stores, with no more
difficulty than I am running Vista presently.
