How do I know that Microsoft will approve a second
install of XP Home Edition on the same computer without
de-activating the program after the 30 days.I want to
insure that all my files are removed so I can reinstall
the program a second time before selling the computer.I
am the legal owner of this program and the product key is
affixed to the side of the computer.

There is no deactivation. If you install XP on the same computer and the
internal hardware has not been appreciably changed there should be no
problem.

A clean install to a formatted hard drive will result in your being prompted
to activate again. Assuming the above or that it has been more than 120
days since the last activation, it will be no different than the first time
you installed, essentially a hand shake between two computers over the
Internet. If you have changed enough internal hardware to exceed the
activation threshold, about 6 different items, then you are presented with a
phone number to call wherein you can explain what you've done, that this is
not a different computer and they will give you a new activation number.

There is no limit to how many times you can reinstall XP on the same
computer though, as mentioned above, you may have to activate again
depending upon install scenario.
