xpI have 3 month old HP Pavilion laptop xp Media. It says the HP Recovery
disk D needs to be defragmented, but I have only 6% free space, and it says
to delete some files before defragmenting. Does this have anything to do with
the 20 cds it took to create a recovery system? How did this drive become so
full, and what do I delete?
Thank you.

Hi Nancy,

The recovery partition was placed there by HP. It is used to restore the
system back to the way it came out of the box. This includes deleting all
user files. The recovery partition is sized to hold files needed for the
recovery, nothing more. The only time this partition is accessed is to
perform the recovery. Defrag should not be run on this partition.

System Restore should not set to monitor it either.
