Does anyone know how to schedule a defrag on WinXP? Other OP systems would
show defrag in the drop-down list in the scheduler. I can't see a way to
schedule it to run on a specific day and time. Thanks

Hi Bill, :)

I would advise not doing this unless you are in a business environment with multiple computers. And even then you would want to get a full usage defrag program.

Windows Xp is a little bit self optimising over time concerning MTFS, resevered system space, AR restore points.

Auto defrag on a home system that can get errors anytime, to me, is ading fire to the flame.

Just run it as needed or once a week or two. And before you do run it, do file house cleaning.

In order to schedule a defrag or anything else, you must be logged in
with admin permissions and use a password.

Make a 1 step batch file:

defrag c: -f -v >Defrag_C.txt

Save as: Defrag_C.bat in your Windows folder

Now add a new task to run this batch file.

The -v switch (verbose) and the >Defrag_C.txt put a report of the defrag
operation in your Windows folder.
