I'm trying to defrag my sons computer but when I do the defrag it keeps jumping back to o percent all the time. anyone have any suggetions that can help me to resolve this problem. or is just going to take a really long time to do this?. My operating system is windows Me. Any help out there? Also can I take out the memory sticks which are PC100 & install Kinston KTM005/256 sticks. I have an HP X793 desktop

You have something running in the background which keeps resetting the defrag. Usually its a screen saver or power saving feature. Make sure everything is turned off and applied. Then try again

Right click on your desktop, goto properties. A window with menu's should appear.
Click on the Screensaver Tab then where you see the title screensaver choose none from the menu, then apply.
