I have a Windows 2000 server with an 18GB array. A few weeks ago it
had less than 10 MB free on it so I deleted about 8GB of old data and
logs.
Disk Defragmenter shows that the entire drive is fragmented, but when
I try to defrag it, I let it go and when I come back to it the defrag
is not running anymore and there are no errors or messages and the
drive is not defragmented. I have made sure that the recycle bin is
empty and there are no hidden files of any type on there.
The only solution I can think of is to copy the files off of that
drive, format it, and put them back. The only problem with that is
that it is a production server and I cannot take it offline for that
amount of time.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this>
