In order to defrag my slave drive i had to move some of
it's contents onto the desktop. I then defraged my slave
drive, and attempted to move all of the moved contents
back to the slave drive.

It is now telling me i do not have enough FREE DISK SPACE
for the files. that is impossible-- they fit there
before!!

Please help- i am desperate!

Open up my computer.
Click on the drive in question.
Look at the free space. Is it what you expected?
How many MB's are the items in question?

I should be able to fit all the files back into the slave
drive because that is where they originated. I have not
added anything to the drive- only moved the files out,
defraged, and then attempted to move them back.

The items in question total 2GB-- but i had 5% free space
in my slave drive before messing around with defraging it.

XP likes to save a lot of copies of things. Try using the disk cleanup
option, including the advanced option to save only the last copy of the
system restore. If you have Norton Utilities or similar, be sure to empty
the protected recycle bin as well as the normal recycle bin. Manually look
under the various TEMP directories and erase everything therein that is not
locked. (If locked, you won't be able to erase it.) Turn off hibernation
and reboot. But, if you are really that close to the dge, you really need
to start thinking about a larger disk; they are pretty cheap and most come
with software to transfer files.
