I have a Windows 2000 Server, SP2. Every time I try to
defrag the server, it reboots. This happens if I am using
the built in Windows Defrag utility, and Diskeeper. I've
read elsewhere that moving the pagefile to an alternate
drive may help, but I have no other drives to move it to.
I've cleaned up all *.tmp and *.dmp files, but this didn't
help either. The server has an Adaptec ATA100 Raid
controller, with 2 x 60 GB drives, using RAID1. The defrag
never completes before rebooting. Any ideas how I can get
this server to defrag without it rebooting?

Todd,

BSODs can only be caused by a hardware failure or a driver that "isn't
playing well with others".

You might try booting into Safe Mode and trying to defragment from there.
If it is able to defrag okay from there, then it is a driver issue.
