Is there a recommended frequency to run Defrag in Windows 2000? (i.e.,
once a week, once a month, etc.) Or any general guidelines? Thanks in
advance!

It will depend on your usage, and how often you delete, modify and add
files. (MOVING within a partition only alters the reference to the
file, and thus it does not cause fragmentation)

In general, I only have need to defrag after I install a new
application (or several) and after I remove one. Once every couple
months otherwise.

I run defrag maybe every two or three months, when I happen to think about
it. So far I've been unable to tell that running it makes any difference
so far as performance goes.
