Is there any way I can obtain the spyware definitions to
use on a computer that does not have internet access?

Well, with no Internet access, no need for spyware protection ;)

But if you want to update just copy these files from a PC with
connection.

Program files / Microsoft Antispyware

gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd
and
gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd

Probably also
gcDeterminationData.gcd (it was updated during last update)

Correct. The download available at the web site contains definition version
5687, as it clearly states.

I've checked this the last time you posted it and another user has also
confirmed that the download is as labelled--5687.

Hi Bill.
Could you please explain why my definitions are labeled 5725 and the website
d/l is 5687?
Thanks,
Steffo

We're referring to two different downloads. The current definition
downloadable is 5725 ('though hopefully not for long.)

The definition set included in the current Microsoft Antispyware install
download, is 5687.

Andre was suggesting that one way of getting the current defs on a machine
which is not Internet connected would be to download the current
installation file and install. In fact, that would result in an install
with 5687 definitions.

You Asked: "Is there any way I can obtain the spyware

I Ask: Why do you need Spyware Software on a computer
that is not connected to the internet? If you never
connect to the internet with that computer you should not
have to worry about spyware getting on your computer. If
it does, How is it going to send data with out a internet
connection.

Yeah, I agree with that point, since Spyware requires the Internet to do its
dirty deed, but what about software that comes with spyware embedded in it?
Suppose download a shareware program at work that had spyware embedded at
work and burnt it to a CD and installed the program on your computer at home
that does not connect to internet? You would infect the computer. Its very
catch 22 I would say.
