I have been getting pop-up messages every minute since
logging on to say that spyware definitions have been
updated to version 5701. I counted 8 or 9 before I disabled
automatic updates. Even this hasn't stopped it. I've had
another 2 or 3 while typing this message.

The tragedy is that the latest definition is 5703.

But the DATE of this update (5703) is shown as 4th January
2005 instead of 1st April 2005. Perhaps that's why it keeps
trying to do the update? If it's an April Fools joke then
I'm not impressed.

My short date settings are dd/MM/yyyy in keeping with my
locale.

Thanks for the update about 5703. I don't know what could be causing this
endless pop-up for you? Which build of MSAS are you running, .501 or .509
and are you logged on as an Administrator?

I see the January issue, its definitely a bug happening in that area of
MSAS, hopefully it will be resolved by beta 2.

This is definitely a date issue on your machines - look at the evidence:

The new update is April (4) 1st (1), 2005
Your machines report January (1) 4th (4), 2005

Your month and day are backwards.
