???? What are you talking about? "Right pane" of what? "Upper &
lowerfilters" refers to registry entries for optical drives. Please
read the information at this link to see what details you need to
include in your next newsgroup post to get focused help:

You apparently are having difficulties with your optical drives and need
to make some changes in the Registry, but I don't want to guess and I
sure don't want to tell you to make any Registry changes without more
information from you.

Having problem with DVDs not playing. Was given instructions to go in the
Registry Editor, instruction says, in the right pane, click/highlight
upperfilter and then delete. Then do the same for lowerfilter. After i got
into CLASS category/heading, there were a bunch of listings under. Just
wondering if the top and bottom of the listings is the UPPERFILTER &
LOWERFILTER.

OK, now I see. Messing about in the Registry without knowing what you
are doing is Right Out. Instead, use MVP Doug Knox's fix which will
make the Registry changes for you. Go to http://www.dougknox.com and
click on Win XP Fixes. On the right side of the page, click on "Restore
CD/DVD Drives to Explorer". This will take you to the XP_CD-DVD-Fix.exe
download with instructions how to use it.

This is much safer than what you are doing.
