Definition update problems

I installed MSAS on my computer and it runs the preliminary
stuff until it has to update the definitions. Then the
program stops. I have to End Process to get rid of it and
when I try to run it a second time, it won't get past the
first step - the confirming that you want to use
auto-update. Anyone had problems with this?
 
When it is apparently hung--how long have you left it?

I've seen apparent hangs relating to definition updates, but they were all
resolved in a matter of 5 minutes or so.
