When I try to print using Word 2007 I can only print half a page when on
portrait but full page in landscape. How do I correct this problem?
It sounds like the document had multiple columns at one time and then later
was changed back to a single column (more than likely in a previous version
since you are encountering a bug that was finally corrected in Word 2003).
The issue you are encountering is the column width is not being reset to
accommodate the layout. To correct the issue:
- On the Page Layout tab, click Columns, then click More Columns
- At the top of the dialog box in the Presets, click "One" and then click OK
Note that you must click One in the Presets even if "Number of Columns" has
a 1 in it. What you are really doing by selecting "One" is causing a
disabled option to be selected. This option is at the bottom and is called
"Equal Column width". When you select One from the Presets the option will
be selected even though its disabled. Since it's not selected Word will use
the column width defined for Column 1 and the column width will not
automatically adjust if you change your margins or page orientation. When
"Equal column width" is selected, Word will automatically make the necessary
adjustments.
