Defender says that I need update

Defender says that I need update when I have updated the signature
files 2 days ago.

why?

I have the same sort of problem. I download the updates from MS They download and install, but Defender is currently telling me I'm 52 days out of date.
PS: are "Signatures" the same thing as "Definitions"?

Well as nobody has seen fit to answer my original post here. I fixed the problem myself. I totally wiped every trace of Defender from my computer, the re-installed it. It now works fine.
