Installed Beta2 x86 on Dell Dimension 2400,Windows XP Home SP2,Celeron
processor, all critical upgrades installed. AntiSpyware Beta 1 was not removed
during installation. Tried to uninstal Beta2 using add/remove,but its no
longer listed.Tried uninstall from Beta 2 on start menu-got message "can only
remove installed software". Beta1 icon in tray says it is active, all files
are still present.Desktop shortcut present and functioning..

Can I remove files manually and run a registry cleaner to get rid of
AntiSpyware Beta1?

First I used system restore to a point before I tried to install Beta2. Then
I re-installed Beta1 from the setup file, then uninstalled it successfuly from
add/remove. Next I will try to install Beta2 again.. Thx for the
reference, but I found a simpler way to get rid of Beta1.

Defender Beta2 installed ok. error message 0x8050800d came up, but fast scan
went ok.Do I need to do anything about the error message?

Hi Bellacuop,

I'm not familiar with that error.

But, try the following, maybe the message go away.

Go to Windows Update, do an Express scan, and apply all offered
updªtes

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature
update with windows defender will fail until you hªve these files.

Version 1.1.1347.0 is out.

Users who normally select advanced Spynet membership should be aware that
the install process will set you back to basic membership, so it's a good
idea to revisit both the Spynet membership area of Tools, and the Options
area--to see what's different, and check that your old choices have been
preserved.

If you are current after going to Windows Update, I'd not worry about that
error message.
